eMotion Motors, a Coimbatore-based start-up, will unveil a prototype of its geared electric motorcycle — Surge — on June 5, World Environment Day.

According to S. Pranav, the founder and CEO of the company, Surge will come in two variants — high power and lower power.

The company had unveiled a prototype in 2015. The current one is the high power variant, which comes with several smart features. It will have a top speed of 120 km per hour.

Surge will run 100 km on a single charge, the company said in a press release.

The battery can be charged fully in half an hour. Employing nearly 10 people, the startup has developed the technology in-house. Surge has nearly 40 distinct features, including computer/smart phone integration, keyless on, SOS safety, GPS navigation, and animated turn signals. The vehicle is expected to go for commercial production in a year or so.

Mr. Pranav said the start-up was in early stages of discussions to raise ₹10 crore to ₹12 crore funding. The funds required so far also came from internal resources.
