Thrissur is one of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State of Kerala, India. The Lok Sabha constituency has had an unpredictable political history. Getting the caste and community equations right has often been a challenge for political parties. All the seven Assembly segments here are in Thrissur district, located in the central Kerala. Thrissur district is known as the cultural capital of Kerala. The famous Thrissur Pooram, an annual Hindu temple festival, is conducted here. Thrissur district houses the Kerala Kalamandalam, the Kerala Sahitya Academy, the Kerala Lalitakala Academy and the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy.
