Tura is a parliamentary constituency in Meghalaya comprising of 24 assembly segments. It is an ST constituency. Tura will go to the polls on April 19, 2024. Agatha K. Sangma from NPEP (National People's Party) won the parliamentary elections in 2019 with a winning margin of 10.98%, defeating Dr. Mukul Sangma from INC. NPEP and INC polled a vote share of 52.22% and 41.24% respectively. In 2014, NPEP's Purno Agitok Sangma won the elections, while in 2009, Tura had picked now-incumbent Agatha Sangma. The voter turnout in 2019 , 2014 and 2009 was 81.38%, 78.1 % and 67.66% respectively. One of Meghalaya's largest towns, Tura is located in the West Garo Hills, at the foothills of the Tura range. It is a hub for the local Garo tribe, and was once believed to be the abode of local god Durama. Close by is the Nokrek National Park, home to a population of red pandas, among other creatures
