The Aam Aadmi Party swept to power in Delhi on Tuesday, upending several electoral records in the process. The AAP won a whopping 67 of 70 seats and over half the voteshare. The BJP’s 32 per cent voteshare could not go far.

The AAP’s growth over the last assembly election just a year and a half ago has been nothing short of spectacular, adding over >25 lakh new votes .

The BJP more or less maintained its voteshare, except for a bit of a spike in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

But despite this significant voteshare, margins were not, as one might have imagined, slim.

All of this made it easily the biggest electoral win Delhi has ever seen.

It also sealed the party’s place in > India’s electoral history . Save for Sikkim, this is the biggest political landslide in history.

There’s no doubt about it; Tuesday was a historic day.
