Psychological illusionist Arjun Guru has predicted the result of the 2019 Indian general elections. He has made a YouTube video, which would be made public after May 19, the seventh and final phase of polling (for ethical reasons). The official result of the elections will be out on May 23.
He has shot the video announcing the election results at the Bangalore airport so that there would be evidence of when the video was shot. “My boarding pass, the screens in the airport and random people will confirm the date for the camera,” he says. Arjun says his prediction is largely unbiased and based on what he has observed. “I have also spoken to a lot of people and read media analyses. A lot of the technique I employ in prediction is based on data and logic.”
He is also planning to hand over the link of the YouTube video to social media influencers and have a social event on the day the result is out, when he would also make his video public.
Arjun had predicted that the French would win the 2018 FIFA World Cup. “It is always a great feeling when you get it right; but going wrong is also part of the game.”
The mentalist from Kochi has been doing shows for colleges and corporate companies and has often come off with a standing ovation. He has also done a TED X talk on why he chose to become a mentalist.
Through his shows, Arjun is also working towards dispelling myths about mentalism. “To me, it is not psychisim or spiritualism. As a performer, it is about leading people’s thoughts in a particular direction. It is entertainment at the end of the day,” he says.
He believes in exploring new aspects in his career. “I want to be able to expand the scope of what I am doing and inspire people to follow their dreams.”
