‘Singa Penney’ from Vijay’s ‘Bigil’ released officially

The inspirational women anthem has been sung by A.R. Rahman and Shashaa Tirupathi

A.R.Rahman’s first single for Vijay from  Bigil — Singa Penney  — was released on Tuesday on social media and YouTube, after much hype.  Singa Penney  is sung by composer Rahman himself and Shashaa Tirupati.

Director Atlee was the first to share the link of the song, a few minutes before its release with a live YouTube link, that kept fans waiting. "Shine despite all odds ! Chase your dreams with no stop! Roar high cos this is your time! Presenting the highly-inspirational #Singappenney from #Bigil," he posted.

Bigil  producer Archana Kalpathi had also tweeted earlier in the day about the track, "A girl is often described as beautiful delicate fragile and kind hearted. We give u strength courage determination and the power to achieve anything she wants."

 

Fans unleashed a barrage of memes all throughout the day as they waited for the song to drop. In fact, even the YouTube India Twitter channel posted that they were waiting with a funny gif.

The 

Bigil  team took the decision to release the song after a portion of it was leaked online, followed by a short clip of 

Verithanam  as well which was sung by actor Vijay. Though neither leak was confirmed, the clips were widely shared on social media.

A week after  Singa Penney  was leaked online, the makers announced that the track would be released officially on July 23. Hashtags such as #BigilPodalama and #Singappenney have been trending all week, as Vijay fans waited eagerly for the album. The leaked audio clip was reported to have been recorded at a shooting spot in Chennai where Vijay and Nayantara were both present with director Atlee. Several fans also expressed solidarity with the makers by using the hash tag #DontWorryTeamBigil, after the audio leak.

In anticipation, Sony Music South as well as Archana Kalpathi of AGS Cinemas also shared a new still from the film featuring Vijay, who plays a football coach, along with his team of women footballers standing on either side.

The film is Vijay and director Atlee’s third collaboration, after the successful  Theri  and  Mersal,  and is set for a Deepavali release. It stars the likes of Vijay, Nayantara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, among others.
