Vijay Sethupathi is the latest of the actors to join the bandwagon to comment on the Narendra Modi government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a radio interview with SBS Tamil Australia , the actor said, “It is against democracy. Periyar has already spoken about this. Can I interfere in someone else’s affair? One can show that they care about someone, but cannot impose their decisions on someone else. The move saddens me,” the actor said.

The actor was in Australia to take part in the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne recently. Sethupathi won the Best Actor award for his role as a transgender in the critically-acclaimed film Super Deluxe . The actor was present to receive the award along with director Thiagarajan Kumararaja and actress Gayathrie.

Meanwhile, Sethupathi is now all set to enter the big leagues. The actor is touted to be in talks to act in a film with Bollywood star Aamir Khan.

Sethupathi confirmed the news to PTI on the sidelines of the 10th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). “We are in talks and details will be announced soon,” Vijay told the news agency. Recently, the Dangal star visited the sets of Sethupathi’s film Sanga Thamizhan . And expectedly, the visit set off the talks about a collaboration between the two acclaimed actors.
