The Jain Nagar Residents Welfare Association, Hasthinapuram, has taken the initiative to renovate an old temple in their locality. With repairs under way, the Arulmigu Sree Valampuri Vinayakar Thirukovil is getting a facelift.
“The 30-year-old temple was last consecrated in 2002. It had only one shrine, dedicated to Lord Vinayagar. Work is on to construct seven shrines dedicated to the Navagrahas, Lord Ayyappan, Lord Hanuman, Lord Murugan, Lord Sree Maha Vishnu, Lord Dakshinamurthy and Goddess Durga,” Association committee member K. Sanjay Kumar said.
“When we decided to renovate the temple, we realised that we had neither the experience nor the expertise. We had to start from the scratch. We have been contributing and mobilising funds for the temple renovation works,” residents said.
Also, the Association is planning to lay locking block stones inside the premises, construct a mini hall and a Madappalli (kitchen). The works are to be expedited and is estimated to cost of Rs.15 lakh. The consecration ceremony is likely to be held in February or March next year. If interested, contributions can be made to support the work. For details, contact K. Sanjay Kumar at 99625 55585
