The trial run of the renovated temple car of the Mariamman Temple in Udumalpet in the district will be held soon, said Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P.K. Sekarbabu on Saturday.
As part of the State-wide inspections, he inspected two temples in and around Udumalpet in the afternoon in the presence of HR&CE Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran, District Collector S. Vineeth and HR&CE Joint Commissioner (Tiruppur) N. Natarajan. A release said that he first visited the Mariamman Temple, where he inspected the various works carried out recently.
The temple car has been renovated at a cost of ₹53.85 lakh and the trial run will be held soon, he said in the release.
Apart from this, a new urchavar sannidhi worth ₹4.4 lakh was constructed and renovation works of the vimanam, arthamandapam and mahamandapam were carried out at a total cost of ₹6.4 lakh. The kumbabhisekam of the temple was performed at a cost of ₹5 lakh, he added.
Following this, the Minister and the officials visited the Amanalingeswarar temple in Thirumoorthy Hills near Udumalpet. HR&CE Department sources said that he instructed the officials to improve facilities for the devotees visiting the cave temple.
Mr. Sekarbabu and Mr. Kumaragurubaran then proceeded to Coimbatore district, where they inspected the Masaniamman Temple in Anamalai and Vinayagar Temple at Eachanari in the evening.
