Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be among 20 leaders from megacities around the world to launch the ‘Clean Air Cities Declaration’, a set of short and long-term commitments towards cleaning the air, during the C40 Summit in Copenhagen.
The Delhi government will endorse the declaration and pledge to reduce emissions and air pollution in a set time frame on October 11 at the Tivoli Conference Centre in Copenhagen. The summit will be held from October 9-12.
Mr. Kejriwal will address a joint press conference with the Mayors of Paris, Los Angeles, Portland, and Barcelona; as well as the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, and Governor of Jakarta, read an official statement.
The delegation from Delhi will take part in several bilateral meetings and Mr. Kejriwal is expected to share the challenges and successes of Delhi’s effort to curb pollution.
The C40 Summit is a network of the world’s megacities committed to addressing climate change.
“The CEO of the C40 Summit, Mark Watts, will meet Mr. Keriwal to discuss Delhi’s continued participation in the Climate Leadership Group and the ways in which Delhi could play a larger role towards fighting climate change,” read the statement.
