The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday seeking his intervention for release of funds to 28 DU colleges, which are funded either partially or fully by the government.
Due to the stopping of funds, the payments of salaries, other reimbursements were being delayed and day-to-day functioning were affected, the letter stated. “You would agree that this action of denial of salaries to the teaching and non-teaching staff amounts to violation of basic human rights,” the letter read.
In June, funds to these colleges had similarly been delayed over issues in formation of the governing body but after a while, Deputy Chief Minister had directed the release of first installment of funds for three months.
They also urged Mr. Kejriwal to resolve the issue at the earliest to prevent “further escalation”.
