''Even then they forced chapati in my mouth which caused my fast to break on the eve of Ramadan...'' says IRCTC catering supervisor at Maharashtra Sadan canteen.

In a written complaint to the IRCTC authorities, the catering supervisor of the canteen, Arshad Zubair S., had alleged that the Shiv Sena MPs put the chapati in his mouth despite knowing that his name was Arshad.

In his complaint, Mr. Arshad had asserted that the major aspect of the parliamentarians’ grievance was that authentic Maharashtrian cuisine was not being served at the Sadan. “

Today there was a meeting of 12-15 guests at the Sadan in which they were complaining about the services. The guests aired their grievances at a press conference. Catering complaints were regarding quality of food, services and unavailability of items in the menu. The main complaint was that authentic Maharashtrian cuisine is not being served. The guests demanded a Maharashtrian caterer,” Mr. Arshad said in his complaint.

His complaint was later forwarded by the IRCTC authorities to New Maharashtra Sadan Resident Commissioner Bipin Mallick.

“All the guests along with media and staff of Maharashtra Sadan came into the kitchen where I was getting the orders prepared. They caught me and put a chapati into my mouth. I was wearing the uniform as prescribed and everybody knew my name ‘Arshad’ as I was wearing the name tag. Even then they forced chapati in my mouth which caused my fast to break on the eve of Ramadan. I was hurted (sic) with the thing they have done as religious sentiments are concerned,” he said in his complaint.
