With Opposition parties, including the Congress, coming together at a joint rally at Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday, two top leaders of the emerging alliance asked Delhiites to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party for Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking at the “remove dictatorship, save democracy” rally organised by AAP here, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee asked AAP workers to ensure the party wins all seven seats, which were won by the BJP in 2014.
“You have to make sure not one seat goes to anyone else,” she said, adding that the party that was the strongest in any particular State should “fight” there.

She said the Trinamool was the strongest in West Bengal, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh and AAP in Delhi, so the parties should fight in their respective States.
“Like Farooq Abdullah just said, for a bigger cause, you need to sacrifice. If I wanted to, I could have fought many more seats,” she said.
Earlier during the rally, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu appealed to Delhiites to vote for Mr. Kejriwal.

Good governance
“Our friend, Mr. Kejriwal is giving very good governance, but with limited powers. If he has the power that other States have, then he will do wonders in Delhi...Whenever there is a problem, the first one to respond is Mr. Kejriwal from Delhi...You have to support him whole-heartedly...Kejriwal ji has to win all seats in Delhi so that the Opposition is strengthened,” he said.
These statements came at a time the Congress attended a rally hosted by the AAP in a first, with Congress leader Anand Sharma in attendance.
