Two decades later, the sequel to Yamaleela , Tollywood’s iconic socio-fantasy rib-tickler, may hit the screens next week. Titled Yamaleela-2 , the movie has newbie and businessman K.V. Satish replace actor Ali in the lead.
The story, screenplay, direction and music are by S.V. Krishna Reddy, who donned the roles in the original too. Comedian Ali had made his debut in the movie.
The budget of the movie, however, is almost 20 times that of the original. The 1994 movie was reportedly made on a budget of Rs.75 lakh, making almost double the investment. This time around, producers spent more than Rs.18 crore on the movie, which is scheduled for release in the US and Europe. After news that the movie had overshot its budget, there were murmurs regarding its delayed release too. Returning as director after half-a-decade, Krishna Reddy would only be hoping that his latest venture only springs a bigger surprise than his original.

For all those in Telugu-land who saw Oh, My God! and were excited when it was announced that Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh would say Gopala, Gopala in their tongue, here’s good news.
The Telugu version of the Hindi hit starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal is shaping up pretty well, say producers Sharrath Marar of Northstar Entertainment and D. Suresh Babu of Suresh Productions. The first look will be out in a fortnight, followed by the audio release in December, they said recently.

Sharrath Marar said a lot of work had gone into giving the remake a native feel by director Dolly aka Kishore Parthasani of Tadakha fame. Its writers Bhupathi Raja and Sai Madhav had put together some interesting scenes, especially considering the friendship between Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh, who has Sriya Saran cast opposite him.
