Google launches Business Photos facility

Business houses in Hyderabad now have a digital edge over their counterparts in other cities.

They can now showcase the interiors, décor, mechandise in 360 degree view pictures on the web, thanks to Google extending its pilot project – “business photos” to the city.

Hyderabad will be the first city in India to get this project, while it will be rolled out to other cities shortly, Google announced in its blog.

Currently, Google is running trial of business photos facility in 30 cities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Canada, The Netherlands, Ireland and Japan.

By uploading the 360 degree view pictures of the premises on Google Places, business establishments will be able to showcase what's on the offer to the prospective customers checking out Google Places.

Those browsing Google Places, will also have an inside look at the interior of the business house. Currently, Google is focussing on restaurants, cafes, hotels, spas, salons, gyms and retail stores.

“The photographs are shot by Google appointed photographers who work directly with the business owner to arrange a time to do the photo shoot.

The images will show prospective customers the interiors, décor, merchandise – and all of this will be done at no cost to the business owner. The panoramic photos will appear alongside other still photos on a business' Place Page and can help potential customers get a better sense of what an establishment has to offer and if they'd like to visit it in person”, Google senior product manager, Rahul Kulkarni wrote on Google Blog.
