Owaisi brothers Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi have hit back at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for attacking the elder of them, Mr. Asaduddin, on Sunday at an election rally in Vikarabad district of Telangana.

Mr. Adityanath said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel made the erstwhile rulers of Hyderabad flee and “if we form a government here, Owaisi  will have to run away just like Nizam ran away from Hyderabad.” He also alleged that the Congress, the Telangana Rrashtra Samiti and the AIMIM were indulging in “only Muslim appeasement politics.”

At a public meeting in Hyderabad, Mr. Akbaruddin, the Chandrayangutta candidate of the AIMIM(All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen), retaliated, saying they were the "sons of the soil." “You say Majlis mukt Hyderabad. Many have come before you. If need be, God will send angels to protect us, this is my belief. We are not those who are afraid.”

Mr. Asaduddin, who is the Hyderabad MP and president of the AIMIM, on his part, said Mr. Adityanath was "ignorant of history as the Nizam did not flee Hyderabad." “Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan did not flee Hyderabad. He was made ‘Raj Pramukh’ and when there was war with China, he offered his gold to India,” he said.

Mr. Asaduddin also said India was his "father's country" and no one can force him to leave it. “It is my religious belief that Prophet Adam when he descended on the Earth from Paradise, he came to India. Thus India is my father’s country and nobody can force me to flee.”  The Chief Minister should first take care of his Gorakhpur constituency where over 100 children die of encephalitis every year, he added.
