A live demonstration of adopting augmented and virtual reality in policing, arguably the first time such attempt anywhere in the country, will be one of the highlights of c0c0n – an annual international cybersecurity, data privacy and hacking conference organised by the Kerala Police and The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB) in association with Information Security Research Association (ISRA) and Kerala State IT Mission – set to get under way at hotel Grand Hyatt here on Friday.

Augmented Reality (AR) can be used for mapping entire crime scenes for which the police now rely on photographs and short videos, which are prone to misinterpretation. With the application of AR technology, 3D rooms can be created allowing officers to step into a room virtually and inspect a crime scene as it was when they first arrived eliminating the possibility of crime scene contamination.

Darknet

Besides the adoption of AR and VR for better service delivery, the two-day conference will brainstorm on the darknet and challenges for the police, blockchain in policing and the drone technology and its scope.

The conference will be attended by police officers from all the States, senior officers from NIA, CBI, Intelligence Bureau, RAW, NCRB, CERT-In, etc. It offers a platform to discuss, showcase, educate, understand and spread awareness on the latest trends in information safety, cyber security and hi-tech crimes.

The conference will feature talks on all relevant and latest topics on hacking, security and technology, hands-on training and capacity building with 11 workshops on the latest subjects, networking with industry toppers, top ethical hackers, police officers, international organisations.
