Woman held for growing ganja plant

The Ernakulam North police on Thursday arrested a woman for allegedly growing ganja plants at her home at Kathrikadavu.

The accused was identified as Mary Ann Clement, 37. The police, acting on a tip-off, raided the house near Kaloor and seized six ganja plants being grown in pots. The accused, a spinster, was staying with her mother. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to having received the plants from one of her friends. The plants had grown to a height of 6.5 feet and were six months old. However, the accused did not reveal the identity of her associates.

Students held

The Ernakulam South police on Thursday arrested two engineering students on charge of carrying two kg of ganja. According to the police, the accused had procured ganja to celebrate their vacation with their friends at Bolghatty.
