AMMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran would not last in the electoral battle, said Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur C. Raju, shortly after the pronouncement of verdict by the Delhi High Court in the ‘two leaves’ symbol case favouring the AIADMK.
Talking to reporters after participating in a medical camp held in connection with former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary, he said he would work for the victory of the candidate of the AIADMK alliance in the constituency. “We will work for the victory of any candidate fielded by the alliance by a margin of two lakh votes,” he said.
Mr. Raju laid the foundation stone for a road worth ₹ 2 crore, connecting Idaiseval and Kurumalai, and two bus stops at Alampatti and in front of SSDM College, and a classroom at Kovilpatti Government Girls Higher Secondary School, to be constructed at a cost of ₹ 25 lakh under the Local Area Development fund.
“The AIADMK has the history of reclaiming its symbol twice. It belongs to those who have the party flag,” he said.
He said while a section of the media had been predicting victory for the AIADMK in 23 Lok Sabha constituencies, the alliance would perform much better, clinching victory in all the 39 seats in the State.
The Minister said even when a Prime Minister with a simple majority was in power, terrorists were trying to split the nation. But the government was doing well to foil their attempts. National integrity could be preserved only if a strong Prime Ministerial candidate was presented, he said and slammed the “indecisiveness” of the Opposition parties in fielding their PM candidate.
