Samiti seeks ESI hospital in Brahmavar

Updated - September 10, 2019 08:36 am IST - UDUPI

The Mahiti Seva Samiti, a non-governmental organisation, demanded that an ESI Hospital be constructed at Brahmavar in Udupi district.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, G.A. Koteyar, president of the samiti, said that there were a large number of employees working in Udupi district. But the government had so far not constructed an ESI Hospital in the district.

The government should use seven acres of land belonging to Brahmavar Sugar Factory, which had closed down 15 years ago, and construct an ESI Hospital there. Such a hospital should also have super-specialty facilities, he said.

Mr. Koteyar said that the economy of the country was on a slowdown. But he would not blame any particular government for it. The slowdown was due to global slowdown. Some of the reasons for the slowdown were decline in investment in the country, dip in purchasing power of the people and fall in agricultural production. There were too many taxes in the country. Unemployment had increased. The number of bank frauds too had increased. Increase in population was another problem. The government should take steps to tackle these problems and reverse the slowdown.
