Sharada Institutions to offer BAMS course

‘We are offering courses in Indian medicine owing to demand’

Sharada Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Devinagara, Talapady, a unit of the Sharada Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, on Friday announced commencing a five-and-a-half-year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) course from this academic year.

Sharada Group of Institutions president M.B. Puranik told reporters here that the course recently got approval from the Union Ministry of Ayush and is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. He said group’s another unit, Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College and Hospital, Devinagara, Talapady, had already announced a five-and-a-half-year Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences course affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognised by the State government.

Mr. Puranik said the group is offering professional degree courses in Indian medicine system following demand from students and parents. Both Ayurveda and Naturopathy are the future of medicines and the group has full-fledged and multispecialty teaching hospitals.

Ayurveda College Principal Raviganesh Mogra said NEET clearance was required for admission to BAMS. The group offers 60 seats each in BAMS and BYNS. Details may be had from the colleges of visiting www.samch.co.in and www.shardaynch.com.
