Regarding the afforestation programme, the seer said: “We want to grow fruit bearing trees not just for afforestation but also with the objective of providing food for birds and animals.”

The college will be constructed so that students in and around Shiroor did not have to go to Udupi or Hiriyadka to pursue their pre-university education. The goshala will be built to protect the cows, the seer said.

The seer handed over the land to the Malpe-based Samavedana Foundation Trust for the purpose of afforestation.

Prakash Malpe, trustee, said that one of the objectives of the trust was to do afforestation in three different places.

Accordingly, the seer had handed over the document providing the land for the afforestation programme.

“We want all living beings to live harmoniously. Hence we are giving importance to afforestation. We will build a good forest in the land provided to us by the seer. We will also see to it that no one fells the trees. We want this forest to benefit all,” Mr. Malpe said.
