Three missing as Mangalore vessel sinks

Three members of a five-member crew in MSV (mechanised sailing vessel) Madona are reportedly missing after the vessel capsized near Androth Island of Lakshadweep in the early hours of Saturday.

The vessel carrying steel, cement and other construction material had left the Old Mangalore Port on Friday afternoon. Seven nautical miles before Androth Island, the vessel capsized after being caught in the rough sea. Two crew members managed to swim and find another vessel. Three crew members from Tamil Nadu are missing.

Chain-snatchers nabbed

The police nabbed two chain-snatchers who were involved in three separate incidents of chain-snatching in Udupi district on Saturday. The police said one chain snatcher was caught near Katapady, while another was caught near Kaup.
