Village education register to be prepared

Published - August 08, 2019 01:01 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram

A village education register on children’s education will be prepared in the State.

This was decided at the second governing council meeting of the Samagra Shiksha, Kerala, here on Wednesday. Minister for Education C. Ravindranath presided over the function.

The survey will be prepared through a people’s survey across the State, with the support of the Local Self-government Department.

The register is being prepared to ensure that children in the 6 to 14 age group are getting free and universal education as envisaged in the Right to Education Act.

The register preparation, which will get under way at the start of next month, will be led by the Samagra Shiksha.

The register will ensure that all of children’s educational rights such as school admissions and dropout prevention are protected. The register will also ensure that Kerala becomes the first State to ensure that all children go to school.
