Spark quiz in Tiruchi on July 20

The preliminary round of the Spark, a national quiz competition, organised under the auspices of Shaastra 2020, the annual technical festival of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, will be held in Tiruchi on July 20.

Spark is the flagship event of Shaastra for school students. The event aims to ignite the spark of innovation and technology among tech-savvy and scientifically inclined students.

The preliminary rounds of the competition will be conducted in over 20 cities across the nation. The winners stand a chance to travel to IIT, Madras, free of cost to compete in the national finals. SHAASTRA has the distinction of being the first student managed technical festival in the nation to be ISO 9001:2008 certified.

The quiz preliminary would be held at the SBIOA Matric and Higher Secondary School in the city. Students, in teams of two, from classes 8 to 12 can participate in the quiz. Team members need not be from the same school. Bonafide teams from the schools can take part by registering on spark.shaastra.org

Limited on-the-spot registrations would be allowed, subject to availability.

Participants would be required to carry a valid identify card of their schools. Science, maths, technology, general knowledge and logic would be quiz topics.

Certificates of appreciation and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Top five teams from each city will qualify for the national screening round. Top 25 teams from the screening round will get a chance to travel to IIT Madras for the SPARK finals. The top three teams of the SPARK Finals will be declared national winners.
