APNGOs, Student JAC, and political parties continued registering their protest against the proposal to divide the State. The agitations and the NGOs strike entered the third week on Monday.
Samaikyandhra Student JAC convenor Devineni Avinash along with students of K.B.N College took several dips in River Krishna at Durga Ghat as part of a ‘Jala Deeksha’. This form of protest has already been done by those agitating against division of the State in the River Godavari at Rajahmundry. Mr Avinash spent several hours in the water as part of his deeksha.
Though the top leaders of the APNGO association have left for New Delhi to bring pressure on the MPs and Central Ministers from the State, protests continued at a slightly lower key.
Members and leaders of Cooperative Department Employees Association JAC went in a rally from the Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank building near Vijaya Krishna Super Bazar to the Benz circle.
The rallyists raised slogans against division of the State and against implementation of the Prakash Bakshi Committee recommendations. YSR Congress leader and former MLA Jaleel Khan and his followers blocked all points of entry into One Town to extend support to the indefinite fast of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in jail in support of the Samaikyandhra movement.
Members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and employees of different State government departments continued their relay hunger strikes against the division of the State.
