Ummareddy, Prabhakar elected MLCs unanimously

YSR Congress senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and TDP leader Annam Satish Prabhakar were unanimously elected as MLCs under the Local Area Constituency (LAC) quota in Guntur district.

As there were only two candidates left in the fray, Joint Collector and Returning Officer Ch. Sridhar declared their election and handed over the certificates to them.

Former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Uravakonda legislator Payyavula Keshav was unanimously declared elected as local bodies MLC from Anantapur on Friday.

His brother Payyavula Sreenivasulu and Y. Venkata Subbanna had filed their nominations. But, Mr. Mr. Sreenivasulu withdrew his nomination, while the nomination of Mr. Subbanna was rejected.

Senior TDP leader and former Nagari MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu was declared elected as MLC (local bodies quota) unanimously in Chitttoor district. In Vizianagaram district, Dwarapureddy Jagadish was elected unanimously. Lone independent candidate M. Appal Naidu withdrew at last minute on Friday.

Independent candidate A.P. Srinivas Reddy withdrew his nomination papers for the lone MLC seat under local bodies quota in Prakasam district. With this, TDP candidate Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and YSR Congress nominee A.C.Venkata Reddy are in the fray.

Similarly, Telugu Desam leaders M.V.V.S. Murthy and Pappala Chalapati Rao were also unanimously elected to the MLC under local bodies quota.

Mr. Murthy and Mr. Rao, both former Members of Parliament from TDP, received the election certificates from Election Officer and Joint Collector J. Niwas.

Party workers gathered in large numbers at the Collectorate to greet the two leaders braving the incessant rains.
