A fire broke out in an SBI ATM kiosk at Narsimha Nagar area under the IV-Town Police Station limits on Thursday evening, allegedly due to an electrical short-circuit. The bank officials are yet to ascertain the amount of cash burnt.

According to Gopi Krishnaan, an official of District Fire Department, they had received a call at around 4 p.m. about the fire and rushed to the spot with a fire tender.

Short-circuit supected

“It took us about half an hour to douse the flames by using Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF),” he said. The fire officials suspect that short-circuit could be the reason for the incident.

The bank officials are yet to ascertain the cash burnt. It was a third party which had loaded the cash on to the ATM. After a consultation with it, the damage report could be revealed, the bank officials said.
