Updated - November 16, 2021 07:48 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM

Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy has warned people against indulging in violence as part of the ongoing agitation against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The agitation to keep the State united was being organised by political parties, employees unions, students unions and non-political organisations under the banner of Samaikhyandhra JACs. He said that some anti-social elements had infiltrated into these organisations and were inciting the protesters and indulging in road blockades, hindering the movement of vehicles, burning tyres and causing problems to the common people.

Mr. Reddy noted that stopping public and private transport and destruction of property was a crime.

He said that cases would be booked against such persons. Criminal cases were already booked against protesters who were stopping traffic at NAD junction, Pendurthy junction, Lankelapalem, Maddilapalem, Anandapuram and Vemulavalasa.

He said that the anti-social elements would be identified among the protesters through video clippings taken during the protests. Similarly, some anti-social elements had also entered Andhra University campus and were inciting the students.
