Students of the national law universities must join the bar and take up issues of common man, former Chairman of Bar Council of India D.V. Subba Rao said while inaugurating the first Damodaram Sanjivayya National Moot Court Competition being organised by Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University here on Friday evening. The moot court competition is on the broad dimensions of the Competition Law.
The moot court would help the law students understand the skills and techniques of arguments in the court and their consequences, Mr. Subba Rao said.
Vice-Chancellor R.G.B. Bhagavath Kumar noted that the three-day competition, the first being organised by the university, was commencing on the 93rd birth anniversary of Damodaram Sanjivayya. Suggestions and advice given by the many legal luminaries that visited the university would be followed in making the institution one of the top law schools of the country, he said. Registrar P. Head of academic affairs of the university and chairman of the organising committee Dayananda Murthy C.P. explained about the importance of Competition Law in the liberalisation era and the reason for taking it as the moot court competition’s problem.
Twenty eight teams of students from various national law schools, law universities and colleges from 14 States are participating in the event, the competition part of which commences on Saturday at the university campus. 0.....The final will be held on Sunday at Andhra University’s Platinum Jubilee Guest House.
Winner of the competition will receive a cash award of Rs. 15,000 along with a trophy and books worth Rs.10,000. Runner-up team will get Rs.10,000, a trophy and books worth Rs. 10,000.
