VMRDA designs get highest voting

Public interaction will be held on October 9: Commissioner

The concept designs prepared by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has got the highest public voting and taking it forward the VMRDA has called for a public interaction on October 9.

The VMRDA design was hosted in its official website with two other concept designs prepared by the AP Tourism Department, and the design prepared by the VMRDA has got a voting of 69.1% compared to 11% and 19.8% for the other two.

Museum complex

Two concept designs such as one for the integrated museum complex and underground parking for Beach Road were prepared by the VMRDA and the Tourism Department and hosted in the VMRDA website for public opinion and voting, and the people of Vizag has chosen the ones prepared by the VMRDA, said its Commissioner Basant Kumar.

The integrated museum complex focusses on integration of various facilities on Beach Road such as Kurusura Submarine museum, TU-142, Victory at Sea, Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan, and the proposed Sea Harrier museum, into one integrated museum and tourism complex.

The other concept design focusses on the proposed underground parking facility, where about 800 to 1,000 vehicles (two and four-wheelers) can be parked between Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan and Victory at Sea.

Unhindered drive

This project is under the convergence project of Visakha Smart City with a contemplated drive way for ensuring unhindered drive throughout the above stretch of about 900 mts.

Now that the public has voted for the designs prepared by the VMRDA, a public interaction is the next step forward.

The interaction will be between all stakeholders such as VMRDA, District Authorities, GVMC, Eastern Naval Command, intellectual, general public, resident welfare associations and representatives of the AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting is scheduled for October 9, at VMRDA Children’s Arena, from 3 p.m.
