Farmer jumps to death from 5th Floor of hospital

Four persons committed suicide in the city on Wednesday.

A farmer from Bidar jumped from the 5th Floor of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre at Whitefield in Bangalore. Police identified the farmer as Rajkumar (43).

According to the police, Rajkumar took the extreme step after oncologists told him that his three-year-old son’s right leg will have to be amputated.

Rajkumar and his wife, Sukitha, had come to the hospital for getting their son, Aakash, treated for bone cancer under the Vajpayee Arogyasri Yojane health scheme for the poor.

Rajkumar committed suicide early on Wednesday morning after doctors explained to him that his son’s right leg, which was affected by bone cancer, will have to be amputated .

Techie ends life

Anitha (25), a software engineer working for an IT company on Bannerghatta Road, was found hanging from the ceiling of her paying guest accommodation at Brindavana Layout in Hulimavu on Wednesday. Anitha, who hails from Chikmagalur, was working in a company for the past one year.

Anitha’s parents complained to the police that she was reprimanded by her boss for having an affair with the latter’s relative. The lodged a complaint against her employer alleging that they had harassed her and had instigated her to commit suicide. The Hulimavu police are investigating.

Peon kills self In the third another incident, a man identified as Ramesh (28) committed suicide by hanging at his house in Nagarabhavi. According to the police, Ramesh worked as a peon at the city civil court. He married his colleague Ramya five years ago despite opposition to the relationship from both their parents. According to the police, the two used to quarrel frequently and Ramya returned to her parent’s house last week after one such fight. When Ramesh asked her to return, she allegedly refused and said that she wanted to end their relationship. Since then Ramesh had not gone to work and was found dead on Wednesday.

He has left three suicide notes addressed to his parents, police and Ramya. He has blamed his mother-in-law in the note.

The Jnanabharathi police said Ramesh’s friend had come home to find out why he had not gone to work, and that is when the suicide came to light.

Cancer-related case A homemaker identified as Kuldeep (39) committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan at her residence on the 6th Main Road in Indiranagar on Wednesday.

According to the police, Kuldeep had been diagnosed with cervical cancer about a year ago and was undergoing treatment. The family finished lunch and Kuldeep went into her room and did not come back. So when her husband, Tejpal Singh, went to check, he found her hanging from the ceiling fan. The two were married for a decade and have two children.
