Many SSLC students, who are all set to write their examination later this month, may not get their results as several school managements are yet to enter the internal assessment marks.
The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) had set March 1 as the last date for schools to key the internal assessment details. Despite this, as many as 127 out of the total 14,288 schools are yet to even begin the process of entering the internal assessment marks, officials said.
The maximum marks that students will be evaluated is 625 marks. While 500 marks will be for theory papers, 125 marks are devoted to internal assessment. The SSLC examinations are scheduled to begin on March 21 and end on April 4.
V. Sumangala, Director of the KSEEB, said that while 14,161 schools have begun the process, only 10,552 schools have frozen the data. The board has been asking schools to upload the data since February 15, but many schools have failed to do so despite repeated reminders, she said.
The board has ordered the Deputy Directors of Public Instruction and Block Education Officers (BEO) to ensure that school managements finish this process at the earliest.
‘Confusion among schools’
Managements, however, have blamed the board for creating confusion among schools. D. Shashi Kumar, general secretary of Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka, said that there was a delay in uploading the details as school managements were asked to enter the details for the second time.
“Earlier in the academic year, the managements entered the marks in the School Achievement Tracking System, but the board has again asked them to enter the details on their portal. This is a tedious job. Schools have to once again invest time to enter these details. It is particularly difficult for teachers to enter details as the examinations are around the corner,” he said.
