A 25-year-old woman was molested and robbed by an auto rickshaw driver and his four associates in Byappanahalli on Friday night.

The victim managed to fight back with pepper spray that she was carrying and escaped.

The victim hired an auto rickshaw from JP nagar to go to Thippasandra late on Friday. The driver stopped the auto in an isolated place on the pretext of relieving himself. Soon, four others joined the driver and dragged the victim out of the vehicle. They robbed her valuables and molested her.

The victim fought back with the gang and attacked them with pepper spray and ran to safety. She later reached Byappanahalli station and lodged a complaint. The police registered a case of dacoity and sexual assault and has set a manhunt for the accused. “We have some leads and efforts are on to track them,” the police said.
