US students tie up with Anna Nagar NGO to study development issues

Students from the Appalachian State University, USA, visited ICWO for an orientation programme on functioning of NGOs

A group of eight students from Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina USA visited Indian Community Welfare Organisation at Anna Nagar on June 27 for an orientation programme. ICWO is a non-profit, non-Governmental and social work organisation working for the past 19 years in Chennai.

During her visit, Debbie Phillips, Professor of Social Work Department said, “We deeply appreciate the opportunity to learn about the developmental work of ICWO. It was very enlightening and informative, particularly the part about the International surrogacy program. We would like to extend our wishes to the marginalised women and children for their healthy development. We are interested to refer more students from our University to visit ICWO for a valuable learning.”

A.J. Hariharan Secretary ICWO said, “An organization like ICWO, which has 19 years experience in developmental field, is important to share its experience with international students, which will help them understand the challenges faced by the marginalised.”
