From this academic year, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, will offer a techMBA programme. Students of B.Tech who wish to take the course would be accepted based on their CGPA and an aptitude test conducted by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS).

The five-year interdisciplinary dual degree programme will admit 25-30 students and graduates will receive a Master’s degree in Management (MBA). The Management Studies Department will offer foundational techMBA courses during the third and fourth years of all undergraduate programmes.

Department head G. Arun Kumar said the techMBA programme would be a trendsetter and game changer. The programme aims to impart business acumen to engineering students, while inculcating management mindset for handling complex decision-making problems, and shaping technology-driven organisational transformation.
