While musicians are generally the focus of World Music Day celebrated on June 21, an event in the city decided to shine light on makers of musical instruments.
Naadhabrahmam, a monthly music journal, in association with Anujan Foundation, recognised 12 makers of musical instruments, mostly from economically backward backgrounds on Sunday, said a press release.

Among the awardees were S. Subakar (
Mohan Parasaran, former Solicitor General of India, M. Narayanan, former CMD, Tourism Finance Corporation of India and V. Vasudevan, founder-trustee, Anujan Foundation, felicitated the awardees. They were given awards of Rs. 5,000 each, instituted by the foundation.
