The 20th edition of the DC Books International Book Fair and Cultural Fest concluded at Arayidathupalam Grounds here on Wednesday.

The 13-day fair, featuring around 10 lakh books of over 200 publishers, also witnessed the release of around 100 new books authored by some prominent and promising writers in Malayalam. They included fiction, poetry, biographies, memoirs, travelogues, and translations, among other genres.

Despite being shorter by a day compared to last year, the fair witnessed an increase of around 25 per cent in the total sales, said Tomy Antony of DC Books. Titles in the category of spirituality, philosophy, and self improvement were some of the preferred genres, besides children’s titles, he said.

A cultural festival featuring a long line of writers, literary celebrities, and activists was also part of the event. Cultural competitions, poetry reading, and discussions on the changing trends and movements in Malayalam literature was another attraction of the fair.
