Uday Bhanu, a Dubai-based art photographer who hails from Kozhikode, has one of his works selected for an international art show to be held in Dubai from May 2 to 31 this year. The photograph selected for the show has been titled ‘Seeing Greater Apes,’ included in his recent series ‘Hues N Barks.’
Mr. Uday Bhanu is the only Indian among the 72 entrants from different parts of the world to be featured in the art show comprising photographs, paintings, installations, and music among other forms of arts, says the website of ‘The Big Pictures,’ a Holland-based art exhibition group, the organisers of the event.
‘Hues N Barks,’ an abstract photography series, most of them natural patterns on the bark of trees, was exhibited in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, and Kozhikode earlier. The artist, who works in the art, music, and advertisement industry, says that ‘Seeing Greater Apes’ has been priced Rs.3.2 lakh by the show organisers.

Mr. Uday Bhanu also has a 23-minute music album composed by him — ‘Gajaayana’ — selected to the show in its music category. “I am the only artist among the lot to have more than one art forms selected to the show,” he says. ‘Gajaayana’ comprises 10 short but striking pieces of experimental music, a preview of which is available on www.avigna.org. His art photographs can be viewed on http://www.huemenstudio. com. ‘Hues N Barks’ comprise 26 photographs and they portray different natural patterns on the barks of trees, some of them featuring abstract images of different life forms. They come closer to different styles of painting, including impressionism and cubism, Mr. Uday Bhanu, who is from Vengeri in the city, says. He also has a solo exhibition of ‘Hues N Barks’ scheduled to be held in Dubai in October this year.
