The construction of a green amphitheatre began at the National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) on Friday. The project is sponsored by the NIT Calicut Alumni Association. Located in the quadrangle between the main building and the old library building on the campus, the project aims to serve as an informal space in general and as a gathering place during events held biannually. The whole concept revolves around the two existing trees, a banyan tree and a pipal tree that were planted by Paul Joseph, former Professor of Electrical Engineering, who is popular among the alumni for his love for nature. The work is expected to get over in two months.
