The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday moved an application before a magistrate court here seeking permission to interrogate Indrani Mukherjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai, accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
Since all the accused are in judicial custody, the CBI sought to interrogate them in jail. The court will hear the matter on Tuesday as defence lawyers of the accused were not present in court.
Meanwhile, the judicial custody of the trio has been extended to October 19. Mr. Khanna and Mr. Rai were produced before the magistrate via video conferencing. However, Ms. Mukherjea was exempted from being produced as she is hospitalised.
A report on Ms. Mukherjea’s health is still awaited from the JJ hospital, where she was being treated for a suspected drug overdose.
“She is conscious since Sunday, and we have given her oral sips. The doctors’ team monitoring her will take a decision on her discharge soon,” the hospital said.
