Mumbai: Next time you fly Vistara, don’t be surprised if a chef in uniform approaches you for feedback on the in-flight menu. To make sure it’s culinarily a cut above the rest, the airline has introduced a Chef-on-Board programme to get direct and instant feedback for its new menu. Vistara has tied up with Taj SATS Air Catering Limited, which also supplies several other airlines.
Recently, passengers flying Vistara from Mumbai to Delhi (Flight UK-970) and from Delhi to Mumbai (Flight UK-977) were pleasantly surprised to have a chef on board interacting with them. Sanjiv Kapoor, chief strategy and commercial officer at Vistara, said, “With Chef-on-Board, we want to ensure we get feedback directly from our customers to help us make the dining experience even more fulfilling and memorable.”
Taj SATS group chef Rajeev Bansal, who is also in charge of culinary development, travelled on the Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai flights to kick off the programme, interacting with travellers in business and premium economy classes. Vistara said Mr. Bansal would be available periodically on select flights across Vistara’s network.
Sagar Dighe, COO, Taj SATS Air Catering Limited, said the programme gives them a novel opportunity to directly engage with customers. “We usually get opinions from third party sources like cabin crew, post-flight customer surveys and friends or family. While this helps us, direct feedback from the end consumer is incomparable. Our first-hand interaction would enable both Taj SATS and Vistara to incorporate their likes and dislikes during menu development.”
