Bollywood personalities and other celebrities took to Twitter as soon as they heard that the BJP under Narendra Modi had won the mandate.
Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s message was re-tweeted more than 1,000 times. The tweet from @imsrk said, “What a solid mandate given by the ppl [people]. It proves again that the only constant is change. Now to move forward with strong & active faith, India.”
Actor Anupam Kher used the Modi mantra which had been made popular during his advertising campaigns. @AnupamPkher tweeted: “Achche Din Aa Gaye. Jai Ho.:)”

Singer Asha Bhosle tweeted from her account @ashabhosle: “Finally a Prime Minister who speaks Hindi :-) Jai Hind”
Actor Preity Zinta’s account @realpreityzinta, said: “Heart is beating crazy as I watch election results on TV. Every Indian has spoken & I’m Happy2 see that this will be a stable & solid Govt.” When the results were out, she tweeted: “I’m Confident that India will prosper, be safe & develop like never before. History will mark this day in GOLD.”
The newest entrant on Twitter actor Rajinikanth said from his official account @superstarrajini: “Hearty congratulations dear @narendramodi Ji on your historic win. Best wishes.”

Writer-director Pritish Nandy said: “So India has chosen. Clearly, unequivocally. My hope for a strong Opposition has gone for a six.”
Writer Shobhaa De tweeted: “India swings unambiguously to the Right for the first time in history. All Hail the Chief, as the Americans would say.” She was consistent with her tweets even before the results were announced. One such tweet was, “Poor Rahul Baba. Feeling sorry for him. Now all he’s left with are those dimples. Unfortunately India can’t run on dimple power alone!”
Actor Shabana Azmi’s tweet said, “What a decisive victory for Modi and the BJP! The people of India have voted for change. Let the new Govt rule wisely and well.”
