Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi service to resume today

Train to run on a special rake

Western Railway (WR) will resume its Shatabdi service between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad from Friday.

WR has only one rake for the train, whose coaches were upgraded under Project Swarna in January. The coaches were damaged during Tuesday’s heavy rain, and Railway officials said repairs might take a week. Hence, a special temporary rake has been planned. The rake has a three AC chair car executive class coaches, two AC chair car coaches, one Anubhuti coach and 12 AC three-tier coaches in lieu of chair cars. The original chair cars are being repaired at Mumbai Central.

“Passengers who have registered their mobile numbers at the time of reservation will receive SMSes about the train, and WR will deploy officers and staffers to assist passengers to find their new seat numbers. Onboard Travelling Ticket Examiners will also guide passengers,” said Ravinder Bhakar, Chief Public Relations Officer, WR.
