Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has promised to get rid of “gun—free zones” if he is elected as the next US president.
“Gun-free zones. We’re getting rid of gun-free zones, OK? I can tell you that,” Mr. Trump said in his address to the national convention of National Rifle Association (NRA) — the powerful pro-gun lobbying group in the US — in Kentucky.
Mr. Trump’s promise, which was not part of his written speech, came soon after he was endorsed by the NRA for his stand in favour of gun lobbying groups.

“That wasn’t part of my speech, I must be honest with you,” he said.
“We’re getting rid of them. Thank you. We’re getting rid of gun-free zones, OK?” Mr. Trump told a cheering crowd.
He said he was surprised by the NRA endorsement.

The Second Amendment, he said, is under a threat like never before.
“Crooked Hillary Clinton is the most anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment candidate ever to run for office. And as I said before, she wants to abolish the Second Amendment. She wants to take your guns away. She wants to abolish it,” he alleged.
Even as Mr. Trump was speaking, a Huffington Post reporter tweeted that many of his properties were a gun-free zone.
He tweeted that he called several of Mr. Trump owned properties to ask whether guns were allowed on the premises.
And the answer was ‘no’, including Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, Trump Hotel in Chicago, Trump Winery in Virginia and Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.
Earlier, NRA announced to endorse Mr. Trump for the 2016 presidential elections.
NRA officials told supporters that Mr. Trump is the only remaining presidential candidate who will defend their Second Amendment rights.
