In the poll-bound Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday took on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi afresh over his “DNA remark” against him at BJP’s Parivartan Rally in Muzaffarpur on July 25, saying at least 50 lakh people of Bihar would send their samples to Mr Modi for a DNA test.
In a fresh tweet on Monday morning Mr. Kumar said “in this shabdwapsi (recalling your word) campaign, at least 50 lakh Bihar people will join a signature campaign and send their samples to Modiji for a DNA test”.
Further he also tweeted that a swabhiman (self-respect) rally would be organised on August 29 in the state to take the shabdwapsi campaign forward.
“PM Modi hasn't retracted his derogatory remarks on our DNA, we'll take the battle to people now”, tweeted Mr. Kumar.
Earlier peeved over Mr. Modi’s DNA jibe which apparently was pointed against him, Mr. Kumar had written a letter to the Prime Minister expressing his and people of Bihar’s displeasure over it.
However, in response of Mr. Kumar’s letter, the NDA leaders too wrote a letter saying “Nitish Kumar is not Bihar, Bihar is not Nitish Kumar”.
Earlier, while addressing a party rally at Chhakar Maidan of Muzaffarpur on July 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said “he (Mr Kumar) not only disrespected me after canceling dinner for us but has also humiliated a mahadalit Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi from removing him from his post…it seems there is a problem in his DNA as DNA of democracy doesn’t function like this”.
However, political pundits said the “DNA remark” of Mr. Modi has become a lethal poll issue for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who has been trying his best to “relate the issue with the pride of Bihar to take on the Modi surge”.
“Nitish Kumar will put his maximum effort to reap political dividend over this DNA jibe of Mr Modi and he will be making it a big electoral issue in the coming assembly poll”, said political observer Nawal Kishore Chaudhary.
On Sunday, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing JD (U) as Janata Ka Daman aur Utpidan in his second rally at Gaya, Mr. Kumar had called BJP as Badka Jhoota Party (biggest party of liars).
