The Opposition cooperated with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday, helping her to get the historic Indo-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement Bill through — unanimously. But the automatic vote recording system in the Lok Sabha was not so kind: when the results of voting on one of the clauses flashed on to the screens, a single negative vote was registered at Ms. Swaraj's seat.
This led to much mirth across the floor, with Opposition MPs mocking the Minister's repeated appeals to vote unanimously for the Bill. But clearly there was something wrong with the buttons on Ms. Swaraj's designated desk: in a later round, her vote did not register at all.
