National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th Battalion Commandant Prashant Dar has been selected for President’s Police Medal. The award is being presented for the meritorious service extended by the officer.
Commandant Dar, who joined the NDRF from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is heading the 10th Battalion based at Mangalagiri in Guntur district. He and his teams participated in rescue operations during natural calamities in coastal districts and rescued many people.
“The NDRF responded during floods in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka States and attended rescue and relief operations in the last few years during Neelam, Phailin, Helen, Lehar, Hudhud, and Vardah cyclones and minimised the human and property loss. The trained NDRF personnel saved many people trapped in floodwaters, streams and damaged houses,” Commandant Dar told The Hindu .
The force helped the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Disaster Management and the district officials in taking up relief operations, supplying food to flood victims in the camps and restoring normality in cyclone-effected areas, the Commandant added.
