‘Top priority is being accorded to providing infrastructure in Jagananna Colonies’

Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy on Sunday said all the roads under the Roads and Buildings and the Panchayat Raj departments that were damaged due to rains would be repaired before the commencement of rainy season.

Addressing the media here after taking part in the Zilla Parishad general body meeting, Mr. Ramachandra Reddy said ₹2,000 crore would be spent for the roads under the R&B Department and ₹1,000 crore for those under the Panchayat Raj Department.

The Minister said that Jagananna Colonies would be given top priority by providing in them facilities such as drinking water, electricity and other infrastructure, and that the officials concerned were instructed to cater to the requirements of the beneficiaries.

“Development and welfare are being accorded equal importance by the government,” the Minister said.

“Chittoor district is always in the top position with regard to Jagananna Colonies and Nadu-Nedu works,” he added.

Earlier, at the general body meeting, the MLAs of Madanapalle, Piler and Palamaner requested the district administration to provide roads in the Jagananna Colonies in their respective constituencies.

The other prominent issues that came up for discussion were allotment of land for burial grounds, provision of house sites and ration cards, and construction of water tanks in the rural areas.

Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayanaswamy, District Collector M. Hari Narayanan, ZP Chairman Srinivasulu, MPP presidents and ZPTC members were present.
