In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old college girl was sexually assaulted allegedly by her boyfriend in Kanigiri town of Prakasam district. The video of the crime was captured on a mobile phone and shared with their friends on social media, B. Satya Yesu Babu, SP, said on Tuesday.
The girl’s lover, B. Sai (19), who allegedly attempted to rape the girl as also their friends Karthik(22) who allegedly shot the crime with his smart phone and Pawan (21), another friend of the duo who was present when the crime took place on August 29, were taken into custody on Tuesday, the SP said.
The Kangiri police invoked against the accused Section 67 of IT Act as also IPC sections 354A, 354B, 376 read with 511 IPC against the trio on a belated complaint from the parents of the girl on Sunday.

The SP, after a preliminary inquiry, said the girl along with one of her girl friends, went to a temple in the town, 55 km from here, to meet Sai with whom she had allegedly been moving friendly for over a year after parting ways with Karthik with whom she allegedly fell in love previously.
Karthik instigated Sai to make sexual overtures to take revenge against her and captured the crime in his mobile phone and shared it with his friends on social media, the SP said.
The girl who accompanied the victim tried in vain to prevent the crime, the SP said, adding that the trio was being remanded to custody.
